Palos
Verdes Pacific
is actually two railroads, an indoor HO and a garden RR. The HO layout was
started in 1984 and fills an upstairs 11 x 14 bedroom. It is set in early
1900s with a Mendocino and Fort Bragg flavor. There are 130 feet of mainline
track, a main yard, plus an elevated passing siding. Wilson Summit has an
independent loop that runs high on the side of the mountain. Rock castings, many
detailed structures, and pines are placed throughout. Originally designed for
block control, the layout has been modified to use Digitrax DCC.
The outside G scale layout was created about 12
years ago. It contains 3 loops that surround the yard area. The back upper
level track runs about 100 across the back of the yard. The mid-section
of the layout fills an area of about 50 across x 10 deep. Bridges and
trestles add interest to track that passes between dwarf conifers and other
miniature plants. A western style town provides a center of interest. The
lawn track is designed to meet with the mid-section and provides a
designated area for grandchildren. Overall there is about 500of LGB trackage.
Each loop is independently track-powered.
