Aston Hall Railway Open House

With 350 feet of “double –bone design” immaculately maintained garden railway, the Tomlinson’s garden has undergone many improvements since their last SoCal GRS Open House in 2007.  Yes, stationmaster Tianshan’s “Chessie Express” continues to haul liquid cargo from The Aston Hall Station to the Cripple Creek Depot to wet the whistles of the miners and patrons of The Red Cat Saloon. Meanwhile, here are some changes for all to see:

·        The garage door has been painted to resemble the top of a yellow “Chessie System” caboose.

·        Beneath the roof, in the Train Crew Lounge, are displayed U.S. and U.K. railway steam era treasures. Included is an antique 1905 potbelly Estate Caboose stove, a very large 1898 U.K. Chessie Lines cast iron bridge NOTICE plaque. The three BR antique stationmaster oil lanterns and a Adlake caboose marker oil lamp also enhance the display.

 ·        Featured are fourteen different desert and mountain structures with building lights. Included is the “High Noon at the Red Cat Saloon”, Monument Valley, and the “Winchester Rifle Raid at Apache Bluff!”

All SoCalGRS families and friends are welcome!
